Open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with pre and post-camp care options, the Springfield  Jewish Community Center (JCC) Day Camp offers premium summer programs infused with Jewish learning and  values from Kindergarten through high school. Located on the Longmeadow/Springfield, MA line, the  Springfield JCC Day Camp is easily accessible for CT and MA residents. Our secure camp is located on 20 acres  of beautiful grounds with basketball courts, a playground, athletic fields, private woods, a high and low ropes  course, a zip line, a picnic grove, a pavilion, and more. Additionally, its air-conditioned indoor facility boasts a  fitness center, an auditorium with a performance stage, an arts and crafts studio, classrooms, flexible play spaces,  and best of all: an indoor 6 lane, 25-yard swimming pool! 

With the encouragement and guidance of our highly-skilled staff, campers of all abilities and faiths participate in  programs and activities designed to foster safe fun, growth, creativity, Jewish values/traditions, and lasting  friendships. Instruction from our arts and crafts, archery/nature, ropes course, Judaic, and sports specialists will  help campers discover their hidden talents. Whether making new friends or developing new skills, Springfield  JCC Day "Camp-ers" will experience their best summer ever! 

Camp Staff Orientation is: 4-8pm on June 16th, 17th, 18th 

Camp Runs: June 22nd through August 14th 

Unit Head 

  • Assist with camp setup, inventory of materials, scheduling, and administrative preparation, including attendance systems in the weeks leading up to camp 

  • Support the planning and facilitation of staff orientation and training

  • Provide ongoing support to counselors as issues arise throughout the camp day

  • Assist counselors with the setup and facilitation of individual group and multi-group activities

  • Support smooth transitions between program areas to promote camper success

  • Maintain an active, visible presence throughout camp by regularly walking the grounds and engaging with campers and staff-including during “hobby” 

  • Capture photos and videos of campers and staff for promotional and communication purposes, following camp policies

  • Model professionalism and best practices while providing in-the-moment coaching and accountability to counselors

  • Assist the Camp Director and Assistant Director in planning and implementing weekly whole-camp activities in alignment with the camp calendar

  • Check in daily with staff members to provide support, address concerns, and ensure program quality

  • Communicate with families as needed, including navigating difficult conversations in person or by phone

  • Support overall camp operations and respond to additional needs as they arise

Requirements: 

• At least 18 years old 

• MA CORI/SORI/EEC background clearance 

• At least one year previous camp experience 

• Must be able to commit to 8 weeks of camp as well as orientation and at least 2 weeks  pre-camp 

• First Aid/CPR Certification (will be provided) 

Pay Range: 

• $18 - $22.50 

• Placement dependent on education level and years of experience
