Camp Sports Specialist
Open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with pre and post-camp care options, the Springfield Jewish Community Center (JCC) Day Camp offers premium summer programs infused with Jewish learning and values from Kindergarten through high school. Located on the Longmeadow/Springfield, MA line, the Springfield JCC Day Camp is easily accessible for CT and MA residents. Our secure camp is located on 20 acres of beautiful grounds with basketball courts, a playground, athletic fields, private woods, a high and low ropes course, a zip line, a picnic grove, a pavilion, and more. Additionally, its air-conditioned indoor facility boasts a fitness center, an auditorium with a performance stage, an arts and crafts studio, classrooms, flexible play spaces, and best of all: an indoor 6 lane, 25-yard swimming pool!
With the encouragement and guidance of our highly-skilled staff, campers of all abilities and faiths participate in programs and activities designed to foster safe fun, growth, creativity, Jewish values/traditions, and lasting friendships. Instruction from our arts and crafts, archery/nature, ropes course, Judaic, and sports specialists will help campers discover their hidden talents. Whether making new friends or developing new skills, Springfield JCC Day "Camp-ers" will experience their best summer ever!
Camp Staff Orientation is: 4-8pm on June 16th, 17th, and 18th
Camp Runs: June 22nd through August 14th
Sports Specialist
Demonstrate knowledge of a variety of sports and physical activities appropriate for different age groups
Coach, motivate, and engage campers of all skill levels, including campers with special needs, in a positive and inclusive manner
Plan and lead daily sports and physical activity sessions that are fun, safe, and developmentally appropriate, adapting activities as needed to accommodate campers with disabilities.
Manage, set up, and maintain sports equipment, ensuring proper use and safety at all times
Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, confidence, and positive peer interactions
Collaborate effectively with camp staff and support other camp programs and activities as needed
Assist with arrival and dismissal procedures, lunches, and special events
Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating enthusiasm, professionalism, and a love of physical activity
Collaborate with other specialists for cross-program activities (themes, camp-wide projects, and running your own art period that includes all ages-called “Hobbies” )
Prior experience coaching, teaching, or leading youth sports preferred
Ability to work outdoors and remain physically active throughout the day
Willingness to adapt activities to meet the needs of all campers
Requirements:
• At least 16 years old
• MA CORI/SORI/EEC background clearance
• Must be able to commit to at least 7 out of the 8 weeks of camp as well as orientation •First Aid/CPR Certification (will be provided)
Pay Range:
• $17 - $21.50
• Placement dependent on education level and years of experience
